Lithunian Autoclub of Journalists was established in 1996. Two main events were organized by Autoclub in 1996: International Rally of Journalists “Lithuania” and Lithuanian “Car of Year” contest. These two events are organized without a break till these days. Today Autoclub has expanded its activity for three more events: touristic–ecologic rally “Pretty Lithuania”, contest “Best Lithuanian Driver” and “Ice King” winter competition.
The President of Lithunian Autoclub of Journalists is elected by club member voting in every three years. The first president was Valdas Valiukevičius. Later to this position came Valdas Juozas Vilūnas and Mindaugas Grinius. In 2010 after a break of two cadences as a president was elected Valdas Valiukevičius.
International Press Rally LITHUANIA 2011 will be held in Samogitia
Traditional international journalists' rally LITHUANIA 2011 will start on 3rd of June. This will be the sixteenth rally held by Lithuanian Journalists’ Autoclub whose history dates back to 1996. Press rally in Lithuania quickly gained popularity among colleagues from neighbouring countries.
It is not already possible to say how many and what countries will start in the rally, but organizers have completed coordination of all event details.
International journalists' rally "Lithuania 2011" route will be prepared in Samogitia (Zemaitija), which is still probably the least seen Lithuanian region by many foreigners, who are coming to the rally.
In the morning of June 3, rally participants will gather at the arena of Siauliai, where participants will be registered, checked by technical committee and will be held on the first stage of the rally race.
Many events will take place in disused aircraft runways. It promises a very large portion of adrenaline. After the race there will be a short pause at the Hill of Crosses.
At 17.00 on the first day of the rally, stage will be held in Siauliai Arena – quick and dynamic, audience-friendly race track. The winners of this stage will fight on the city mayor's Cup.
After the rally the participants will drive together toward the yacht club Plateliai and will be located at the hotel.
On the second day the participants of the rally will be waiting for the special stages in Plunge, Rietavas districts. There will be special Continental Cup in Rietavas. The rally spectators will have a possibility to test the latest Toyota cars. In addition, the rally organizers will make some surprises for the participants – they will have to compete not only with their own cars.
On Saturday (June 4th) night will be held a rally and prize giving ceremony for winners in Plateliai Yacht Club. The celebration of the Lithuanian Journalists’ Autoclub 15th anniversary will start.
